Adversidades infantiles (ACEs) y estrés tóxico
LowConditionala favor (atención informada en trauma)Recommendation: Se sugiere la atención informada en trauma ante adversidades infantiles y estrés tóxico.
Rationale
Trauma-informed care responds to the link between the adversities experienced in childhood and toxic stress and, in adulthood, worse mental health and more risk behaviors, a consistent association that strengthens as these adversities accumulate. The certainty of the evidence in the critical outcomes is low. That is why the recommendation is conditional in favor: this robust, graded association grounds the practice of trauma-informed care, although it does not constitute evidence of the efficacy of any specific intervention.
Cautions and contraindications
Before intervening on mental health, assess the patient's emotional state, context, and treatments, and individualize the approach without replacing the treatment indicated by their health team. Carry out a screening of suicide risk and crisis situations. Advise seeking mental-health care on a priority basis in the face of warning signs such as thoughts of self-harm, marked functional decline, and worsening symptoms, and refer to specialized care when appropriate. Reassess the progression periodically.
